| Feeding behaviour of adult European anchovy (Engraulis encrasicolus) was studied in the Gulf of Lions (northwestern Mediterranean Sea) in relation to major abiotic and biotic factors. Observations were made during the main spawning period (summer) for two years, data were collected through hydrological pro-tiling, zooplankton hauls and fish trawling performed in areas of high anchovy density. Temperature, salinity and zooplankton biomass were stratified in the study areas, with cladocerans numerous above the thermocline whereas copepods were dominant below. | Six kinds of crucifer (broccoli, cabbage, califlower, kale, mustard and rugula) were tested, as food, for larvae od Ascia monuste. The best results were obtained eith califlower, broccoli, rugula and kale. Four sugars (glucose, fructose, sucrose and maltose) were tested to know their influence on the number of oviposition in female of Ascia monuste. The best results were obtained with fructose, glucose and sucrose. |

| This study, carried out from 1995 to 1997, within the framework of "Le Havre" harbour extension project, concerned halieutic populations and the characterization of a coastal nursery in the oriental part of the Seine bay and the Seine estuary . The main objective was to describe the specific and demographic composition of marine populations and their spatio-temporal distribution, and so assess the biological and halieutic role of this area. | During larval rearing phase of turbot, a substantial variability in survival and growth is frequently observed. In this paper, we studied the effects of hydrodynamics in larvae rearing tanks on the survival and the growth of fed and starved larvae, using the following conditions: water flows of 600 and 1200 ml.mn(-1), constant and progressive ones, air flows of 10 and 30 ml.mn(-1), downward and upward water circulation, with direction change during the rearing phase. | Industrial potentialities related to biotechnology of microalgae are examined, highlighting a wide spectrum of applications which concern principally nutrition, health, environment and energy. | The GERMON project had several aims i) to understand the populations’ structure between albacore tuna southwest of the Indian Ocean and southeast Atlantic, ii) to determine the origin of juveniles observed in South Africa iii) to improve the understanding of the biology field (Size/Size and Size/Weight; reproduction and feeding area; trophic linkages) and iv) to initiate work on chemical analyzes and adaptation of the albacore species to its environment. These aims have been held and the results allow a better understanding of the management albacore. A general summary of results is presented in Part 9. |
